ABOUT LINDSAY KOONTZ

Lindsay Koontz was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with a minor in Psychology in 2013 from Kent State University and her Master of Fine Arts Degree with a focus in Sculpture + Interdisciplinary Practice in 2017 from Ohio University.

Though trained as a sculptor, Koontz works in a variety of media including analog and digital photography, painting, performance, installation, and mixed media. By focusing on the intersection between art, science, and psychology, her work explores ideas of dependency, coping, grief, attachment, and our undeniable interconnectedness between one another. She often incorporates materials and processes that connect back to the body, biology, and the natural world to investigate the lingering impacts of both her psychological and corporal experiences.

Koontz’s work has been exhibited in over 30 shows nationally and internationally including Italy, Iceland, Los Angeles, NYC, Texas, North Dakota, Virginia, Oregon, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Between 2018-2025, she completed residencies including The Art Lab in North Carolina; The School of Visual Art’s Bio Art Department in Manhattan; and WormFarm Institute in Wisconsin where she focused on Art and Agriculture. Currently, she lives in Columbus, Ohio, and is working toward creating projects that bring people together through fine art, food, and agriculture.
